Description

Evangelion is a book on the good news of God's kingdom. It deals with the ministry of reconciliation, which our Lord Jesus Christ gave to His disciples and those that would believe in Him after them as the great commission. In the pages of this book, the main objectives of the ministry as well as the rudiments of soul winning have been captured in a clear and easily understandable manner. It commenced with what the issue was between God and man, and climaxed to how this issue has been permanently resolved by God. The actual cause of the enmity between the creator and his creature was a big deal, but not as much as what it would take for the creature to be reconciled back to his creator. God created a kingdom and made man to be His vice regent therein. Man disobeyed the rules that govern the inhabitants of this kingdom and was faced with the consequences of his actions. The consequences involve cessation of the constant fellowship with his maker. God became man in other to pay the price for man's disobedience and reclaim the privileges he lost to the enemy, the devil. These privileges, however, cannot be accessed if man fails to agree with God that he not only needs to be saved, but cannot save himself and accept God's offer of His quality of life through belief in what God has achieved for him. This solution was not an easy ride for God, because first it was a very costly gift to the undeserving, even without their desire for it. However, God had to execute the plan to the latter. This plan, however is not an after thought for God, but has been designed even before man came to be. This is the message God expects believers in His Son to take to the ends of the earth. In this book, this message is given its glorious outlook. Chapter One expatiates on the magnitude of the sin problem. It also explains how the solution to this great problem was achieved. Chapter Two is about the basic tools that are indispensable for the accomplishment of this great assignment. It is common knowledge that before anyone can effectively carry out any duty, he has to arm himself with the right equipment. Without them, the task becomes a herculean or even an impossible one. In Chapter Three, the message content and what it focuses on was dealt with. With that in perspective, the scope of the ministry can be grasped so that it becomes easier to deal with. Chapter Four deals with the types of evangelism. This helps the reader to have quick grasp of how the unsaved can be reached with the good news of the kingdom and the possible means available to believers today. The actual process involved in winning a lost soul is properly x-rayed in Chapter Five. Evangelism is only the Genesis of soul winning. However, it does the bulk of the job if executed correctly. It is after this that a soul can be said to have been won for the Lord. In soul winning, one is taken from being just a believer in the Lord to being a disciple of the Lord. Chapter Six discusses the general disposition and attitude with which the lost can be won over. This is because unless the right approach is applied, the gospel becomes tasteless and the purpose is defeated. Chapter Seven gives us the heart of the matter, the central theme of the gospel. Love is the reason for God's act of benevolence and should be the driving force of every evangelist. Chapter Eight guides on the urgency of the ministry and the boundaries of the mission field. Only the spiritually insensitive believer will not be concerned with what needs to be done in times like these. The instruction is "preach the word in season and out of season". The main reasons are that the time is short and the days are evil. Such a ministry as this comes with its attendant challenges. The last Chapter deals with what one might encounter in the course of ministering to the unsaved and God's promises for those challenging times. Some of the blessings and rewards that accompany diligent ministers were also enumerated.
